Peace campaigner Brian Haw has died of lung cancer aged 62. He set up a camp in 2001 and fought all attempts by the Government to silence him.

Brian was one of the few people in Westminster who spoke out against the illegal war in Iraq while others quietly pretended the lies and corruption didn't exist.

While MPs were voting on issues they claimed defended democracy they were at the same time trying to silence Brian. Democracy was worth spending billions of pounds on when it came to oil producing countries but not quite so attractive in our own country.

I want to go back to my own kids and look them in the face again, knowing that I've done all I can to try and save the children of Iraq and other countries who are dying because of my government's unjust, amoral, fear - and money-driven policies

Today is a sad day but hopefully others will be inspired to question the actions of our Government and hold them to account for the things they do.



Well done Brian. You will be long remembered after those MPs that traded other peoples' lives are long gone.
